CODY WHEELER - EXPOSURE EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHERS SHOWCASE

The Sentinels and It is a Good Day for a Parade are two different series that consist of images made from compositing handmade small-scale sculptures into my photographs.

The series The Sentinels displays giant human-like entities that look over the welfare of mankind. They are parallel to conventional religious deities but with unresolved origin or foundation. The Sentinels can be seen as a token of faith and comfort in troubled and anxious times. I like to think that the Sentinels are giant invisible gods forever looking over humanity and our environment.

It is a Good Day for a Parade, portrays giant handcrafted animal balloons that are a celebration of character and soul. This series is also an equal ode to the denouncing of the increasing dominance of commercialism and perfectionism in society. They series is a celebration of character and beauty in the imperfection.
