When you think of the Canadian Rockies, you think of the towering peaks. Driving into the Canadian Rockies, you are greeted by the majestic, magnificent and rugged peaks. As Lee drive’s through valley bottom, hikes up the side of a mountain or bush whacks his way through the forest he also sees the tremendous beauty below the peaks. Whether it is zooming in or getting up close and personal, Lee has been inspired to tell the stories of the beauty at his feet up to the hanging cliffs and ridges. Often Lee will be sitting at lake’s edge or high up on a mountain enjoying the tranquility of the Rockies when a moment shows itself across the valley. Carrying the heavy pack becomes so worth it as Lee is able to zoom in on this moment to capture it in its elegant simplicity. Or when Lee is up close and personal with the moments in the Rockies he is able to take it in while he captures a unique intimate moment among the vastness of the Canadian Rockies. Studying black and white photography off all genres, has inspired Lee to strip out the noise and focus on the nitty gritty of the stories he wants to tell. Join Lee in walking through the visual stories exploring the smooth soft water, reflections, the playful contrast of the shadows and light, the tantalizing textures and the mind warping abstract shapes and forms of the Canadian Rockies.
About
Lee has always had a passion for exploring and adventure from his childhood to current day. It was through his father’s passion for photography, travel and exploring that Lee got the bug for all of them. Although Lee has spent a lot of time traveling and capturing the essence of the places he has visited, he is most at home capturing the visual stories of his favorite place, the Canadian Rockies and the always interesting adventurous and active souls that play in them. Through all of the exploration and adventure activities, Lee strongly lives by the practice of Leave No Trace. As photographers, we are literally told to focus on one, may be two, genres of photography, develop your unique vision within the genre and perfect it. Lee takes pride in the challenge of learning and becoming very proficient at multiple genres of photography including black and white, landscape, astro, abstract and portraiture, both environmental and in studio.
Dave Brosha: "Lee has a remarkable ability to bring together brilliantly-seen composition and a knack for the unusual and extraordinary to create images that delight, stand out, and will stand the test of time. It's been incredible watching his journey, and I can only imagine what the future will continue to bring for this passionate, spirited artist."
