Spitting Images: The Eye of the Artist

In this special exhibition, five painters share the reference photos behind their artwork. By hanging the photos alongside the paintings that have emerged from them, viewers are offered a rare glimpse into the use of photography in the painting process. From closely replicated high realism to more loosely interpreted expressionism, a variation of painting styles are represented, exposing the variety of ways that artists translate what's captured on film to their canvas.
